The following update on the status of preparations for polarized proton running was contained in an email from Chris Montag dated 27 Sept 2007.

Dear colleagues,

As discussed at the retreat, we will run the "Blue" RHIC ring at a new,
near-integer working point (.96/.95), while the "Yellow" ring remains at
the current polarized protons tunes (.695/.685).
As part of the preparations for this running mode, we have to make sure
that all RHIC systems that rely on tune measurements, use the tune
setpoint, or rely on the tune or the betatron phase advance over a large
portion (> one arc) of the ring are capable of dealing with the new
working point.
As a starter, I have attached a list of systems that need to be checked
and probably updated. This list is not necessarily complete, so I would
like to ask everybody to take a careful look at this list and let me know
if I missed something. I also would like to ask the listed contact persons
for each system on the list to let me know of the status of their
respective systems.

With best regards and many thanks,

        Christoph
