Scheduling Meeting Minutes: 28 Dec 2007

PHENIX reaches 230 inverse nanobarns by the end of January.  STAR should reach its goal of 120 by mid January.

Power costs have been 82$/MWhr through Dec.  It is expected to drop to 73$/MWhr in January through the end of the run.

Mike Leitch showed the PHENIX Integrated luminosity on tape, with peaks above 1.8 inverse nanobarns per day.  Their goal is 58 on tape.  He also showehttp://www.agsrhichome.bnl.gov/AGS/Operations/Run8/Run8_Lumi_dAu.jpgd they have ~15,000 J/Psi in the muon arms and ~1000 in central e+e-.

Barbara Jacak wants 71 inverse picobarns of 200 GeV pp running.  At a minimum, at 200 GeV, 5 inverse pb of transverse pp recorded requires 5 weeks of pp running and 7 cryo weeks. Barbara also wants 500 GeV pp collisions just to demonstrate feasibility.  Establish 250
GeV polarimetry in both pC and pJet.  Measure cross sections for pik0 and gammas.  Compare to pQCD.  Observe W--> e+e-, with 68 per week.  Measure J/Psi and Y 1500/40 for J/Psi/Y in mu+mu-.

Tim Hallman gave details of recorded events:  30Mevts minbias, 30nb-1 luminosity (Slow detector readout), 60nb-1 luminosity with fast readout (not started yet).  We are now at 31%/50%/0% of these three goals.  To reach their third goal they require 35-40 days.    STAR wants a minimum of 6pb-1 of 200 GeV pp running.  STAR analyzed the 9GeV run last summer and found very few real triggers.  Highest priority finish dAu run.  Short (2 days) AuAu run is very important,.  next in priority.  Minimum pp running as a reference for dAu is 6 nb-1 sampled (12nb-1 delivered) which looks like 20-3 weeks of data taking.  If polarization is good, transverse spin measurements at 200
GeV will add new results (correlations in FMS), but getting reference for dAu drives the schedule.

Christoph gave a scenario for polarized proton running.  There is a 3 week RHIC set-up, plus a 3-week AGS Cold snake cool-down.  Tank 6-9 of LINAC needs to be brought on.  This is 1-2 weeks.  Need to start cooling down the AGS today!!!.
