At the Experiment Status Meeting today (27 November 2007) it was decided that the two experiments (PHENIX and STAR) could vote to decide how long stores would last during PHYSICS Running. During times of Machine Development, the decision will be made by RHIC Operations.
In the absence of other input, RHIC stores would last for 6 hours.
If both experiments (STAR and PHENIX) decide to dump the store early, then the beam will be dumped early.
If both experiments decide to keep the store longer than 6 hours, then the
store will be kept until at least one experiments wants to dump.
